How Climate Counts works in Shopify
Climate Counts gives ecommerce brands a simple way to turn a defined share of sales into funding for community-led nature restoration.
Choose your percentage
Choose the percentage of eligible sales you want to put towards climate projects. Add a monthly maximum if you wish.
Climate Counts tracks it
The app builds your balance as orders are paid. Refunds and cancellations are deducted, while tax, shipping, duties, tips and gift cards are excluded.
C Level buys and retires the credits
Once the month’s refund window has closed, your balance pays for whole carbon credits. C Level buys and retires them on the registry, and the app keeps the record.

Each whole £26.25 in your balance buys one carbon credit. VAT is charged separately, making the total Shopify charge for one credit £31.50. Smaller balances carry forward.
Climate funding without becoming a carbon-market expert
Climate Counts is not designed to buy the cheapest carbon credit available.
C Level has worked with community-led carbon and nature projects since 2000. We select projects where there is a clear connection between the carbon finance, the work happening on the ground and the communities responsible for delivering it.
We look at the carbon outcome, methodology, current project evidence, monitoring, independent certification, community participation and the status of the certificates being purchased.
Many of the projects are certified through Plan Vivo, a carbon standard created specifically for community and smallholder-led nature projects. Projects may change as certificate availability changes. The selection standard does not.

Free to install
There is no installation charge. You pay only when your balance funds a whole carbon credit.

£26.25 + VAT per carbon credit
Each credit represents one tonne of CO₂e. Charges are made monthly through Shopify and are currently available to UK stores billed in pounds.
See exactly what your climate funding buys
C Level retires credits in batches on the S&P Global Environmental Registry, used by Plan Vivo. Retirement takes the certificate permanently out of circulation, so it cannot be sold or used again.
The retirements are recorded privately. Climate Counts records the credits purchased for each merchant and the relevant registry reference, and the monthly statement shows how the charge was calculated.
The aim is straightforward: a merchant should be able to show what happened to the money rather than displaying a sustainability badge with nothing behind it.
Show customers the commitment without overclaiming
Climate Counts can add a simple message to the merchant’s storefront showing the percentage of eligible sales the business has committed.
This is deliberately a funding claim rather than an offsetting claim. Climate Counts does not tell shoppers that their order is carbon neutral or that its emissions have been cancelled.

The money comes from the shop’s own revenue, not from an extra charge to you. C Level buys the credits and retires them on the S&P Global Environmental Registry, used by Plan Vivo, so they cannot be sold or used again.
A precise climate claim your business can stand behind
Climate Counts records something precise: the business has committed a defined share of eligible sales to climate projects, and the resulting carbon credits have been purchased and retired, with a registry record.
It does not claim that the shop, its products or individual orders are carbon neutral. Buying and retiring carbon credits does not remove emissions from the merchant’s Scope 1, 2 or 3 footprint.
Carbon expertise behind the Shopify app

Climate Counts takes that experience into ecommerce.
A merchant does not need to select carbon methodologies, inspect registry records or become an expert in project quality. It decides what proportion of sales it wants to commit. C Level handles the carbon-market work behind that decision.
